About WTS

What does Wisconsin TechSearch do?

WTS is a full-service, one-stop document delivery source for all your information needs.  Our professional librarians specialize in the hard-to-find -- incomplete citations, obscure journals, and bibliographic puzzles you lack the time and resources to dig for.  We are also able to provide research to help answer your information needs.   The librarians on staff leverage their years of professional academic experience on all aspects of your requests.

Do you provide book loans?

Yes!  WTS can provide book loans of items owned by University of Wisconsin–Madison campus libraries (with some restrictions).

Do you provide dictionary definitions?

Yes!  WTS has access to extensive collections of general and technical dictionaries. For our readily available local titles you can search our department catalog or the UW-Madison collection. We can obtain other titles as well, though it may take a bit longer.

Can you provide a legal declaration?

Yes!  WTS staff are able to provide declarations for material owned in print by University of Wisconsin–Madison libraries.  We charge $200 per declaration plus article delivery and copyright fees, if applicable.  Declarations are signed and sent by email, and are not notarized.

What does copyright law have to do with WTS?

WTS follows the Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) which governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.  WTS is happy to pay copyright royalties on your behalf in order to ensure compliance with copyright law.  Please note that royalty rates are solely determined by each publisher, and cost can vary greatly.  Sometimes we are not able to obtain permission from the CCC, in which case you will be notified and may wish to pursue contacting the publisher directly to make payment.

We cannot advise our clients regarding their obligations under copyright law, so you may wish to consult your company’s legal counsel if you have questions.

Can WTS provide translations?

Sorry, we don't provide translations. We can check to see if there might be an existing English translation published elsewhere, or try and obtain an English abstract. If needed, we can suggest some translation services. Foreign language citations are always welcome.
